Aluminum is generally used to monitor patients for ongoing or prior exposure to toxic levels of aluminum.

More specifically, the following patient populations are most frequently analyzed for elevated levels of aluminum.

• Infants administered prenatal fluids
• Patient suffering from burns
• Renal failure
• Industrial exposure to toxic elements
• In preparation for dialysate
